Today we’re talking to the Co-Founders of Core-Inovate, the startup behind Mozi.
Jane is a seventeen year veteran of public school transformation, Jane gains her inspiration from the educators in the field who strive to make learning and life better for young people. Jane was a Senior Director at LA’s most influential education non-profit, the Los Angeles Education Partnership. During her tenure she was an advocate for teacher-led transformation, for educational equity, and for access to high-quality arts education for all students. In 2013 Jane launched the LA office of Exploring the Arts, Tony Bennett and Susan Benedetto’s high-impact arts non-profit. In 2014, Jane and her long-time collaborator, John Matich, launched Core Innovate. Jane holds a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Doctorate of Education from UCLA.
John is recognized in Los Angeles and beyond as one of the most influential leaders in professional development for teachers and thought partners for school and district leaders. During his twelve-year tenure as the Director of Professional Development at the Los Angeles Education Partnership, John led a team of coaches who catalyzed high-impact change at some of the region’s most struggling schools. John’s work strengthens the human relationships required to honestly assess challenges, to make necessary changes, and to sustain transformation through rigorous discourse. John co-founded Core Innovate to expand his impact to include schools throughout California and beyond. John is an agency trainer for the Center for Adaptive Schools. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Cal State Dominguez Hills and an administrative credential from the state of California.

We spoke with Albert Valdez, the Education Coordinator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Albert received his Bachelors in Fine Arts from Otis College of Art and Design and went on to share his love of art and his passion for creating opportunities for expression with kids at LACMA. We loved hearing about the great work Albert is doing and thinking about whether arts access is a social justice issue.
